Smartphone - - The Modern Day Time Killer

Image
Believe me, that thing you’re using to read this article is not your friend. And even if you’re reading this on your laptop or PC, there’s one thing I want to ask you: How important is your device to you? An experiment, which was conducted by the universities of Würzburg and Nottingham Trent, revealed that 37.4% of the participants rated their phone as more or equally important in relation to their close friends. Smart phones are important. Yes, I know that but Smart phones are also dangerous. Not because they may cause stress, anxiety, and even depression, but because they change your behavior. It seems like we can’t focus on one thing for more than 5 seconds. Why? Well, we can’t because our smartphone is constantly going off. Not because people are calling you (it seems like people are afraid of calling these days, but that’s another topic), but because you’re constantly getting notifications about THINGS THAT DON’T MATTER. Change Your Smartphone Behavior Smart...

My Encounter With A Fraudster - - - - Experience Is The Best Teacher

Image
I've been worried about so many things of late. Starting up a business, getting capital to start the business and ensuring it grows... Paying off my college school fees and growing in life generally. I thought about so ways to get my capital... Selling my phone, my wrist watches or probably working till I save up for it. Unfortunately, having sourced for a job and not succeeding I decided to opt for option two..."selling my properties!". It wasn't an easy thing to do.. I'm still having a hard time getting used to the fact I have to let go of them... but I believe "only a fool will take a loan to start a business rather than selling things he can still acquire in the future" Taking a bold step, I decided to sell off my phone... I posted an ad of my phone on Olx (a Nigerian marketing website/app). On the evening of the said day in which I posted the ad, I got a call from an interested buyer.. Who said he'll call me the next day for us to mee...

Procrastination : A Disease Which Lives In Every Human

The older you get, the more you find out more about yourself and that thing which keeps you going and happy. For me, it's clothing!!  I've been keeping busy with learning new skill because, I believe a knowledge gotten is never of waste. I decided to learn how to make dresses, skirts, trousers and whatever is related to sewing and designing. I used to assume that sewing was so easy.. I saw my mom take measurements of clients and she'd practically manage not to disappoint any of them. Looking at her attend to people and still manage her other business and workers, I felt it was something cinch.. Having gone through a little of what she used to encounter, I now have a change of thought. It's actually quite hard. Do you know that for evey measurement and cloth your tailor makes for you, there's always mathematics involved. I literally didn't know about this till I made my first piece. I might even add that some tailors are even more educated and mathe...

FINAL YEAR FEVER --- STRUGGLES OF A NIGERIAN GRADUATE

Image
Sometimes, I wonder to myself --Is this the Final Year Everyone is Stressing to get to? Truthfully, final year happens to be one of the most stressful moments in school. You lose your sense of being social (not that I'm so social), you tend to lose a touch of reality, everything you do, tends to stop and all your focus is given to some not so needed factor that will/won't add much value to your existence. I am a student of Rivers State University of Port Harcourt who is suppose to be leaving the prestigious college this year. Getting to final year was something I've always craved for but man, does the stress which comes along with it overwhelm you? Most definitely. I remember vividly well when I just got into University. It still feels like yesterday filled with so many long activities. There were those who were really excited to see the four corners of the university.... the hunger to attend lectures (yes! I did crave for lectures), those wh...
